Description

The Chromic Gut Absorbable Suture, Size 4-0, 27", SH-1 Needle, is a sterile surgical suture manufactured from purified collagen derived from the submucosal layer of sheep intestines or the serosal layer of bovine intestines. It is treated with chromic salts to extend tensile strength retention and slow absorption, offering enhanced durability compared to plain gut sutures.

This suture is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation. Its use is widespread in gynecologic, oral, urologic, and general surgical procedures, particularly when synthetic absorbables are not required or preferred. Chromic gut maintains adequate tensile strength for 10 to 14 days, ensuring secure wound support during the critical early phases of tissue healing.
